The second batch of Pokemon card translations.
I bought an old deck of Japanese Pokemon cards off of Ebay. I scanned them, translated them, and digitally edited them with my own translation. All of these have been officially translated already, however, I made sure to provide my own translation.
I looked at the official translations afterward in order to compare the Pokedex lore that is on the card (which changes drastically), but I made no edits to adjust to the official translation. The only exception is move names and Pokemon names –those I purposefully lined up with the officially localized English names.
The heights/weights I converted from centimeters/kilograms to feet/inches and pounds myself.
Below is the original Japanese card (top), and my translated version (bottom). Notes will be below them if applicable. They are in the order I translated them rather than in any specific card order.

In this batch, in order of number rather than appearance. You may use Ctrl + F to skip to them for ease of search:
#007 Squirtle / ゼンガメ (Zenigame)
#008 Wartortle / カメール (Kameeru)
#059 Arcanine / ヴィンディ (Windie)
#084 Doduo / ドードー (Doudou)
#095 Onix / イワーク (Iwaaku)
Trainer Card: Energy Removal / エネルギー・リムーブ (Enerugii Rimuubu [Energy Remove])
Trainer Card: Pokemon Swap / ポケモンいれかえ
Trainer Card: Professor Oak / オーキドはかせ (Oukido Hakase)
—
#059 Arcanine / ヴィンディ (Windie)
-For the most part this card came out alright –but that lore box still needs work. The quick, readable solution is to give a solid color background rather than the messy work of trying to emulate the background texture (see: Nidoking card in the first batch). But then readability becomes an issue.
—
Trainer Card: Pokemon Swap / ポケモンいれかえ
-The title looks a little too large, but the space usage in the description came out a bit better than before using the double space.
—
Trainer Card: Energy Removal / エネルギー・リムーブ (Enerugii Rimuubu [Energy Remove])
-Title a little too large and high up this time. Maybe the font on the bottom could be a little larger.
—
Trainer Card: Professor Oak / オーキドはかせ (Oukido Hakase)
-A change in font from previous cards worked a lot better for both the title and description.
-はかせ is “Professor”, as オーキド (Oh-kee-do) is a Japanese last name. The decision to name him “Oak” likely came from the sound similarity.
—
#084 Doduo / ドードー (Doudou)
-The font change in effect does look cleaner –especially on the white card base. The lore came out nicer than usual, too.
—
#095 Onix / イワーク (Iwaaku)
-The newer font plus the bold seemed to have helped for Rock Throw, but Harden got a little squished thanks to the description that follows.
—
#007 Squirtle / ゼンガメ (Zenigame)
-A little squished in text this time. But the lack of bold looks “cleaner” in some places.
—
#008 Wartortle / カメール (Kameeru)
-A mix of bold and plain text to see how it contrasts with the previous card. There was not as much text on this one, so the lore looks rather bland too. The upper half seems fine.

That is all for this batch. There will be two more batches before the individual translations begin.
