Official Fire Emblem Fates Guide to be released July 15th in Japan

Hi everyone! Just wanted to let the curious know that amazon.co.jp has listed the Complete Fire Emblem Fates Strategy Guide for release on July 15th for 1,944 Yen (~16 USD). You can import these for just 10 or so US dollars and they deliver rather fast. I am importing one myself to iron out recruitment methods as well as to make more in depth chapter data, and eventually a guide on gameFAQs with this handy source!

It says it includes everything you need to know about the Invisible Kingdom path as well as My Castle, among other things!

Fire Emblem Fates Guide Progress [7/10]

Hello everyone! If you follow this site you know it is still a blog that functions as a portfolio, and I like to upload at least one work a day. But, with this game, I did not want to make scattered posts and instead consolidated relevant information into large macro posts.

I decided to fill that quota, I can still mention the translations/works I did for the game today and going forward!

UPDATES:

Characters: Still going through and adding full profiles (from the museum), epilogues (both marriage and not), and death quotes! But I have not progressed farther than Luna, Soleil, Foleo, and Oboro. They are not really being done in any particular order, mostly just by interest. I intend to do Velour next by request. If you have any you want to see sooner than others, then please let me know in the comments below or via email. : )

Menus: I got a lot of screenshots of the My Castle menu from a friend, but I have not gone through them just yet as I am prioritizing the character updates.

Chapters: Major update here! All of the Third Path (Invisible Kingdom / Touma) data  All Hoshido and Nohr chapters are now completed. I am just waiting on someone to end me the Nohr maps so I can add them to the chapters. Also I will include Dragon Vein effects as I go through Nohr a second time. Also for Touma/Invisible Kingdom, if anybody has the maps for that please pass them along too!

Other than that, a major feature is the Invisible Kingdom Story Summary that I posted after a 17 hour marathon of the third path DLC! Made it available as soon as possible for you all. Now all that’s left is the Nohr story summary which is of low priority at the moment. I already covered the Prologue Story Summary and the Hoshido Story Summary.

Fire Emblem Fates: Invisible Kingdom Story Summary

Spoiler warning!

Phew! The Third Path released just yesterday, and so after a 17-18 hour marathon I finished the third path to get it to you all as quick as possible.

This is my chapter by chapter summary of the Invisible Kingdom path. This means I just have Nohr left to do (I had played Nohr first but only started writing summaries in Hoshido).

I start from Chapter 6  rather than all the way back at the beginning of the game. For the prologue summaries, look here.

This was all done on my free time, and so took a while. It was certainly a lot of work, but I do hope you enjoy! I am unemployed… so please consider donating if you like the work I do. : )

Fire Emblem Fates: Third Path DLC Out Now + Updates

A quick note that the Third Path in Fire Emblem Fates is (already) out today. It costs 2000 yen on the eshop. To get it, go on the main menu, and select the fourth option on the left, and select the third path.

As such, I will be updating character profiles with when they properly appear, as well as the Chapter data. I will write a story summary as I go along too!

Looks like I’ll cover this one before Nohr.

It’s Tanabata! 七夕 Japan’s Star Festival and random trivia in anime and games

Screenshot-from-Shirokuma-Cafe-tanabata-31304059-1920-1669

This is more a cultural post, and is not as in depth as it may seem! A brief break from Fire Emblem Fates things today to talk about this.

Today is the Tanabata Festival in Japan. Tanabata 七夕 (the seventh night) takes place on July 7th every year (in some areas of Japan), and is also known as the “Star Festival.” The legend goes that Orihime (represented by the star Vega) and Hikoboshi (represented by the star Altair) are lovers separated by the Milky Way and are only allowed to meet once a year on the seventh night of the seventh month. It is a rather “star crossed lovers” plot, though not exactly tragic as one may expect.

On this day, wishes are written on strips of paper and attached to wish trees. It is usually written by those in elementary school, but some provinces still decorate their streets quite elaborately.

On another note, sometimes this festival takes place a month later on August 7th, or anywhere in between, as it was originally based on the seventh night of the seventh month of a lunar calender.

You can read more about the origins of the festival as well as the story behind Orihime and Hikoboshi here or on wikipedia, or by just searching some culture blogs.

What I wanted to talk about was just various media you may have seen that reference Tanabata in some form or another, be it via a reference of a character’s birthday, or from the strips of paper attached to something.

This is not an exhaustive list at all. In fact, these are the first few things that come to mind in memory. There are plenty more examples out there! Feel free to provide anymore you don’t see here in the comments and I may add them too!

Fire Emblem Fates Guide Progress [7/06]

Hello everyone! If you follow this site you know it is still a blog that functions as a portfolio, and I like to upload at least one work a day. But, with this game, I did not want to make scattered posts and instead consolidated relevant information into large macro posts.

I decided to fill that quota, I can still mention the translations/works I did for the game today and going forward!

UPDATES:

Characters: Some big updates here! I’ve started going through and adding full profiles (from the museum), epilogues (both marriage and not), and death quotes! So far, Luna, Soleil, Foleo, and Oboro are done. They are not really being done in any particular order, mostly just by interest. Other than that, the Prologue Story Summary has been posted in addition to the Hoshido Story Summary. I am currently working on a second Nohr playthrough that will include a summary, but it may take some more time.

Fire Emblem Fates Fan Comic Translation (1)

While browsing I came across some silly comics made by Japanese fans and artists. I did not draw these! I simply cleaned them up and translated them for people who were curious to read them!

Below is just my translation. Please be sure to follow the link to the original!

Shin Kibayashi’s tweet on writing Fire Emblem Fates translated

Something slightly different today, I translated a tweet. Some people were curious as to what Shin Kibayashi (the writer of Fire Emblem Fates) said regarding his role in the game’s writing. Some were incorrectly assuming he was trying to distance himself from a poor story, but really he is just being modest and spreading the praise to other staffers at Intelligent Systems. See the translation below:

From a tweet made on July 3rd:

アマゾンベストセラー1位を維持している『ファイアーエムブレムif』。 ただ、誤解が少しあります。 僕は3本合わせて500枚もの原稿を書きましたが、あくまで原案です。実際にシナリオを書かれたおそらく複数のスタッフの方のために、それだけは知っていただきたいし、広めていただきたいです。

Fire Emblem Fates is now ranked number one best-seller on Amazon[co.jp]. However, there may be a slight misunderstanding. Though I wrote about 500 pages between all three versions, it was just a draft. Since the final scenario was [the result of being] passed through various staff members, I just want to let it be known that they too [had a role in this].

I hope this clears up any potential confusion on the matter. Whether or not one liked the story, it is selling well in Japan, being at the top of Amazon.co.jp’s best selling video games.

Fire Emblem Fates: Prologue Story Summary

Spoiler warning!

This is my chapter by chapter summary of the Prologue. The Prologue refers to the first six chapters before the major  choice is made. Please note this is based on the Japanese version of the game.

The story from there branches to Hoshido, Nohr, and Touma/Invisible Kingdom (the third path). Links to those sections can be found at the bottom.

This was all done on my free time, and so took a while. It was certainly a lot of work, but I do hope you enjoy! I am unemployed… so please consider donating if you like the work I do. : )

Fire Emblem Fates Guide Progress [7/02]

Hello everyone! If you follow this site you know it is still a blog that functions as a portfolio, and I like to upload at least one work a day. But, with this game, I did not want to make scattered posts and instead consolidated relevant information into large macro posts.

I decided to fill that quota, I can still mention the translations/works I did for the game today and going forward!

UPDATES:

So there was some very needless controversy regarding poor Soleil today. I will not really talk about that, but my heart goes out to everybody involved who got some serious hate (from journalists to the source blogger). It’s really not a good day for humanity, but it seems to be clearing up.

Characters: Most of this section is complete. Birthdays and VAs have been added. (They may not reflect on this post, but they are in the mirror forum post. I’ll be adding them over the week)

Menus: A new menu for My Castle was added. Someone will be sending me secreen shots to hopefully translate visiting and battling in My Castle tomorrow.

Chapters: All Hoshido and Nohr chapters are now completed. All maps have been added for Hoshido, some amiibo ones, and the Nohr ones will be coming soon!

Two new sections that may interest people:

The Hoshido Story Summary is live! I am working on the Prologue which will be up soon, and then on the Nohr Story Summary. Stay tuned!

Lastly, Aqua/Azura’s full song (the main theme) has been released with lyrics! And so I translated them for anyone who is interested! It has a lot to do with the multiple paths, so I think anyone playing it and not understanding it will find use in this.
