This post is of page 177. It shows some tomes for the lower level magic (basic fire/wind/thunder/light) and also gives a bit of trivia regarding magic in the world of Tellius.

In Tellius, magic is commonly used as a weapon in combat. There are four primary types of magic with destructive power: Fire, Wind, Thunder, and Light. There are also Staves, used for healing. It may seem strange that Water (Ice) and Dark are missing, but it is commonly accepted that it is to maintain hegemony among the people of the modern era. Water was one of the miraculous powers of the Creation Goddess Ashunera, and Dark was the evil power of the Dark God Yune. It is likely due to these associations that it is forbidden for the average person to study these types of magic. On a broader scale, the Heron Galdrar can be considered a type of magic too. Below are design materials on some of the different tomes.
Notes:
- Those we are aware Yune is a goddess and not a god, I went with how they referred to her in FE9 (which was simply “the dark god.”
- We see dark magic appear in FE10, so it was likely that these practitioners had been authorized to study it, or more likely, illegally studied the dark arts, considering the ones we see are primarily from Daein.
- Light seems to be authorized as it would be using the accepted Goddess Ashera’s power, leaving the other two forbidden. Perhaps the Great Flood also left water out of the question?
- Ice does appear in the form of “blizzard,” but likely due to the movement of clouds/weather rather than creating ice/water specifically.
