This post is part of my ongoing translations of the Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn Memorial Book: Tellius Recollection (Vol 2).
This post features Sanaki, though it talks more about Begnion’s apostles in general.
You can find every translation I’ve done on this book so far on the compilation post here!
As you can imagine, the process of doing all this (scanning, editing, translating, etc) takes a lot of time, and I am unemployed…so if you like what I did, then…

The 37th empress of Begnion who also serves as the apostle. Her full name is Sanaki Kirsch Altina.
Begnion’s apostles can only be girls who have descended from the first empress Altina. It is implied this is not just a formality or customary, but because the girls born with her blood hold the power to “read the hearts of others” and “hear the voice of the goddess.” In addition, the “Galdr of Release” which is passed down generation to generation can only be sung by Altina’s genealogy. However, Sanaki is unable to do any of these. It is a closely guarded secret in order to prevent disorder and a source of worry for Sanaki as to whether or not she is the true apostle or not. After she witnesses Micaiah sing the “Galdr of Release” and awaken the goddess, her feelings of envy and self-doubt deepen even further.
The secret history revolving around the apostle slowly came together piece by piece. The senate orchestrating Misaha’s assassination in order to install a puppet, and Altina’s descendants being the result of a union between her and Lehran (a beorc and laguz) eventually lead to the confirmation that the apostles themselves are indeed branded. It was not Altina’s blood that passed the power down the generations, but rather, her partner Lehran –one of the heron clan. The truth is, Sanaki was installed to be no more than a puppet for the senate in order to quell domestic unrest after the 36th Apostle Misaha’s assassination led to a temporarily apostle-less Begnion.
Sanaki was disappointed to have learned that she was not the true “apostle.” But, she was still officially the empress of Begnion, and resolved to help create a new world with her status as such.
