She protected the Eastern Desert as a mage under the command of Grieth, but following his death, she befriended Celica and came to accompany her. As a child, she lived in a monastery peacefully with her older sisters Hestia and Marla, however, because the two sisters were offered up as sacrifices by the hands of her father Jedah, she decided upon revenge and waited on her chance. Now as a young woman, she gives off a calm and relaxed demeanor, however internally the feelings of hatred she hides are violent and tumultuous, and at the time when she faced off with Jedah, she fought against him as though venting her anger and fury. After having fulfilled her revenge, trying to remedy her father’s actions, she set out on a long journey to find a cure for those whose souls were sacrificed…

Deen

CV: Tsuguo Mogami
Starting Class: Myrmidon
Loves: Sweets, delicacies
Likes: Rich food, meat, acquired tastes
Accepts:  Plain, bitter, or innocuous food
Dislikes: Unsavory food

A myrmidon who works under Grieth. He is a remarkable swordsman with a mysterious past that he does not speak about. Though he defended the northern side of the desert, he did not have a high opinion of Grieth and overlooked the assault on his fortress. After Celica defeated Grieth, Deen joined her forces with his Brave Sword.

Deen was raised in a provincial Zofian city to a long lineage of soldiers, and underwent his father’s relentless training from a young age. He joined the Zofian Army when he came of age, and became engaged to a feudal lord’s daughter. He would inherit the lord’s peerage, and everything seemed set for a happy ending. However, while he was away for a mission, the mansion was attacked. As he rushed back upon hearing the news, he himself was attacked and lost his left eye. When he reached the mansion, he found his wife, whose form had completely changed. To kill his beloved fiancée and enact revenge on the man who took his eye, he took the lord’s heirloom Brave Sword.

  1. If you’re ok with a very small translation request for a bit of dialogue in the original gaiden, I’ve been wondering about Sonya’s ending? You see depending on the fan translation, it either says:

“Her two older sisters, Mara and Heste, had been reborn as witches to be sacrificed to Doma…
Sonya would never forgive their father Judah for making his three daughters into sacrifices.”

    or

“”Her older sisters Mara and heste were Doma’s sacrifices. Sonia would never forgave Judah for her deeds.”

I’m wondering what the Japanese text says. By the way, this is the only reference to Witches being sacrificed in the original, though Marla, Hestia and several of the minor arcanist/cantor bosses talk like zombies.

Video of the Japanese text for Sonya’s ending, if you’re interested in translating this.
