Earlier I made a post about Bridal Tharja in Fire Emblem Heroes and the “three choice question.” This article is related, so please read the other if you haven’t.
This post just takes a quick look at another instance of the “three choice question” that occurs in Fire Emblem Fates and what the localization did with it.
Let’s take a quick look!
The following dialogue occurs if she is your lover and summoned to your room:
おかえり、(name).お風呂？ ご飯？ それとも…って何よその顔。
Welcome back, [name]. Bath? Food? Or…hey, what’s with that face?
It was localized as:
“You’re home! Can I get you anything?”
The “bath/food/or me” pattern appears across Japanese media, and is often referred to as the 新婚三択(shinkonsantaku lit: “three choice [questions] for the newly wed.”) Often the “me” gets cut off and some other humorous line gets put in its place because they know the reader is aware of what it implies.

So this was changed too, much like Tharja’s in FE Heroes. “Can I get you anything” does summarize the phrase well, but purposefully misses its innuendo. In Japanese you can see the “hey, what’s with that face?” likely intended as a joke for the player who may have been aware of what the line means.
I wonder if it appears in Awakening too? At a glance, it does not seem to appear in any game before Fates. It’s possible because the previous games did not have marriage to a player character, and thus this line (which is often used to you and not to a particular character) wouldn’t have had a chance to be used.
So for documenting purposes, Charlotte says it in Fates too!
A general reminder that I just like to write about changes and trivia between versions. I don’t really have any strong opinions either way on this subject, and that it’s all in good fun!
