ephraimandrei

From the Making of Fire Emblem: 25 Years of Development Secrets book comes a script from the canceled Fire Emblem 64. It is the only dialogue example provided for the game. For some more trivia about this game, I made a post about some design documents from it here.

I translated it in full since it contains some interesting tidbits for FE fans, such as the names Eliwood and Ephraim just to name a few! Also, it reveals who the two characters in the only screenshot released for the game are.

You can find much more from this book on the compilation post here.

FE Fates Original Proposal Translation/Commentary – 25th Anniversary

The Making of Fire Emblem: 25 Years of Development History contains some fun trivia regarding the series. You can find all the information I translated thus far in one place here.

This is a brief post about a Fire Emblem if (Fates) design document from December 2012 that was used as a framework for the entire game then on. I provide the translated image below, but the original/raw scan can be found here. The transcript is at the end of the post. See below for some commentary.

Just some things of note here:

  • Hoshido/Nohr (Byakuya[White Night] Anya [Dark Night]) were the Kingdoms of Light and Dark respectively. (Hikari and Yami).
  • Three paths were emphasized from the beginning, rather than the third coming in later.
  • They got to work on this game soon after Awakening’s Japan release (April 2012). Most of the framework remained, meaning that Fates got the groundwork laid out just seven months later.
  • The word “Prince (王子)” is specified, so perhaps gender was not selectable/customizable at first. However it can be read as “royal child” too, I suppose. But the word often used for female Kamui/Corrin (Princess 王女) is not used.

Contents of the Fire Emblem 25th Anniversary Book (Translation + Review)

Fire-Emblem-25th-Anniversary

To give people (and potential importers) a better idea what exactly is in the 351 page Making of Fire Emblem: 25 Years of Development Secrets book, I decided the easiest way to cover that would be to simply translate the Table of Contents and write a personal commentary on it too. See the contents first, and my brief review after that. You can also scroll down to the bottom for a summary.

All the information I have translated thus far can be seen on my compilation post.

As you can imagine, the process of doing all this took a lot of my free time, and I am unemployed…so if you like what I did, then…
