FE 25th Anniversary Comiket Staff Book – Page 7 Translation

ComietB01-02

Today’s translation comes from the Fire Emblem 25th Anniversary Comiket Staff Book. It was a small book that featured notes and artworks from the game developers. I do not own this book, so all credit for the raw scans goes to an imgur gallery kindly uploaded by kingddd.

I am not translating these in any order, and simply by interest/request. I may get through the whole book eventually, but we will see!

Feel free to donate if you are feeling kind. Any amount, no matter how small, really helps me out : ) (The donate button/link can be found in the top right corner of the page!)

I took a look at Page 7!

Pokémon Move: Thunderbolt VS Jyuumanboruto – 100,000 Volts or Bolts?

Time for some more Pokémon move trivia! Today’s post is was a request to compare the Pokémon move name: “thunderbolt.” Many have written on the subject already, I’m sure, but I was requested to add my own post about it.

In Japanese, the move is called 10まんボルト (jyuumanboruto). It literally means “100,000 Volts.” However, it can also be read as “100,000 bolts.” So the question from the reader was whether or not it’s “volt” or “bolt”? It sort of makes sense both ways, getting hit with a 100,000 volt attack, or getting hit by 100,000 individual bolts, well, that’s going to hurt!

Pokémon: #151 Mew ミュウ (Myuu) Name Trivia

A brief post on Pokémon #151, Mew! A reader emailed me asking a simple request to see what I thought about the English and Japanese names, as well as the theories (as listed on Bulbapedia) as to where the name comes from.

In Japanese, the Pokémon is named ミュウ (Myuu, or…Mew). In English, it is the same (Mew). So that gets that out of the way!

The question is why did the Japanese name it Mew? Any reason simply beyond the sound a cat makes?

Eliwood 25th Anniversary Artwork (Cleaned)

Fire-Emblem-25th-Anniversary

Today is not exactly a translation, but it does have to do with the Fire Emblem 25th Anniversary book. The book features five special illustrations that have Marth, Sigurd, Eliwood, Ike, and Lucina, each drawn by the same character artists in charge of their respective games.

You may view them on the book’s compilation post here, but I wanted to make individual pages for each one, too.

So, today, I provide Sachiko Wada (character designer in Blazing Sword)’s artwork of Eliwood. I went out of my way to clean it up for people who wanted the artwork. Nostalgic!

As you can imagine, the process of doing this all took a lot of time, so if you like what I did, then…

Please donate!

Enjoy!

Super Smash Bros. Melee: Roy’s Character Intro Webpage Translation

This image is from and created by the amazing Nirbion for SourceGaming

Today, I present an article from SourceGaming that is a translation of  Roy’s Smash Bros. Dojo introduction back during the Super Smash Bros. Melee days.

Please read it here in full!

However, I did edit it onto the webpage in a style that imitates the original page as close as I could possibly make. All translation credits go to Soma and PushDustIn of SourceGaming this time around.

The images below give a preview for the final product. Full resolution coming soon!

Roy’s Original Design Illustrations Translations – FE 25th Anniversary Book

Fire-Emblem-25th-AnniversaryToday I take a look at Roy’s designs that lead up to the one we know and love today from the Fire Emblem 25th Anniversary Artbook. I translated the main notes next to the drawings, but could not make out many of the scribbles next to the pictures (due to how small it was and how messy the handwriting is). so decided not to translate those parts.

These scans and much more from this book can be found on the compilation post here.

As you can imagine, the process of doing all this (scanning, editing, translating in some cases, etc) took a lot of time, and I am unemployed…so if you like what I did, then…

Please donate! It helps fund future projects!

Enjoy!
