Fire Emblem Fates: Marth amiibo Event Dialogue Comparison (JPN vs ENG)

marthamiiboeve

Back in August I translated Marth’s amiibo event in full. A few days ago, GameExplain released a video of all four “first encounter” dialogues in the English version of the game. I took a look at Lucina’s dialogue, and surprisingly, things changed! Then I looked at Robin’s, not as many differences, but a few. Yesterday, I looked at Ike, who only had a few small changes (and an error).

So! Today is the last of the four, being Marth. He changed quite a bit, from informal to formal among other things!

This is by no means a “they changed everything so don’t buy this game” post! This is just to show how things can sometimes change through localization and is a way to satiate curiosity.

Note, this is just the first encounter for now. If I find videos, or when the game comes out, I will be able to compare second encounters as well. I will update this post to reflect those.

Enjoy! Feel free to email or comment with more requests related to FE in general.

So I decided to look into Ike today (and hopefully Marth tomorrow)to see if things changed in those.

Fire Emblem Fates: Lucina amiibo Event Dialogue Comparison (JPN vs ENG)

Back in August I translated Lucina’s amiibo event in full. Yesterday, GameExplain released a video of all four “first encounter” dialogues in the English version of the game. I took a look at Lucina’s dialogue, and surprisingly, things changed! I am sure there are reasons for it, but the changes do go a long way of changing the subtle meanings of this brief dialogue.

FE Fates: 4Koma Comic & Character Guidebook (Page 145) Translation – Lucina + Robin

Thanks for the great year! (2015)

The last of my scan/clean/translate of Fire Emblem Fates: 4Koma & Character Guidebook (ファイアーエムブレムif 4コマ・キャラクターガイドブック).

I do not post the raw scans here, but you may email if you want them to compare translations!

The compilation post is here!

All scanning, editing, translating, and uploading is done on my free time and is rather time consuming. It is certainly a lot of work, and I am unemployed… so please consider donating if you like the work I do. Any amount (no matter how small) is much appreciated and helps me keep going on a daily basis. I hope you enjoy the end results of my work!

Here is today’s page! It is the FINAL page of this book and of this year! (Page 145) It features Lucina and Robin.

Sakurai Interview (Part 2): Fire Emblem 25th Anniversary

Fire-Emblem-25th-Anniversary

There was a lengthy (eight page) interview with Masahiro Sakurai near the end of the Fire Emblem 25th Anniversary Book. In it, Sakurai’s history with the Fire Emblem franchise is explored.

I provided the scans to my friends at SourceGaming, who translated the first part of the interview before. And now, they translated the second part of the interview in full. Sakurai details his opinions on the games of the franchise, such as Genealogy of the Holy War among others! There are some Fire Emblem Fates spoilers, so please be careful. Thankfully, SourceGaming has marked the spoilers so they can be avoided.

Please go over and read it!

As you can imagine, the process of doing all this (scanning, editing, translating in some cases, etc) took a lot of time, and I am unemployed…so if you like what I did, then…

Please donate! It helps fund future projects!

I provided the scans to my friends at SourceGaming, who translated the first part of the interview. Please head over there to read this insightful interview! It details info on Sakurai’s thoughts and background regarding Fire Emblem and the Super Smash Bros. series. The second part will be up later.

At one point Sakurai refers to a more “energetic” Roy, as well as when Roy was once named Ike. I have provided the relevant pages in translation below to give you an idea of what he’s talking about. For more information from the 25th Anniversary Book in general, go to my compilation post here!

Lucina 25th Anniversary Artwork (Original, Cleaned, and Colored)

Fire-Emblem-25th-Anniversary

Today is not exactly a translation, but it does have to do with the Fire Emblem 25th Anniversary book. The book features five special illustrations that have Marth, Sigurd, Eliwood, Ike, and Lucina, each drawn by the same character artists in charge of their respective games.

So, today, I provide Yusuke Kozaki’s contribution: Lucina. I also went out of my way to isolate it for people who want just the artwork, and then went ahead and colored Lucina myself! (You may see it uploaded on a friend’s DeviantArt account , no, they did not steal that, we collaborate a lot).

As you can imagine, the process of doing this all took a lot of time, so if you like what I did, then…

Please donate!

Enjoy! I hope to upload the others when I have time…

Fire Emblem Fates: 4Koma & Character Book Character Artworks [ALL]

00Cover

I decided to make a compilation post for the (untranslated) character pages from Fire Emblem Fates: 4Koma & Character Book (ファイアーエムブレムif 4コマ・キャラクターガイドブック) for people who just wanted the art regardless of the translation.

I am steadily working on translating the entire book however, which can be found here. I cover a new profile and following comic (comics not posted here) each day.

Please support the authors by buying a physical copy yourself! It makes for a fine addition to any Fire Emblem or manga collection, and does not cost much either!

All scanning, editing, uploading was done on my free time and was rather time consuming. It is certainly a lot of work, and I am unemployed… so please consider donating if you like it! Any amount (no matter how small) is much appreciated and helps me keep going on a daily basis.

You can download all the artwork in bulk here.

All the text on the pictures below are the same as their character profiles, which can be found translated here.

If you share it on your own site, all I ask is you please link back to this site in some fashion. : )

Note that the first few pages are a little blurry on the edges. I hope to rescan them at a later date. It should improve after just a few pages!

Finally, all the artists and the characters they did can be found at the end of the post.
