FE Fates Localization: Endgame Character Dialogue Comparisons (ALL)

CharacterDialogueTranslations

This is another post in my ongoing Fire Emblem Fates localization comparison posts! I discuss anything from major to minor changes here. This one was requested to me by a reader on twitter!

Today, I look at every character’s final lines during the Endgame chapters in both Birthright and Conquest. These lines are only said when said characters are brought on the final levels of the respective games.

Spoiler warning, of course! As it deals with events in the last chapter(s) of the game!

Please note that this post is purely informative and may share some opinion, but this does not mean the change is necessarily good or bad. A change is just a change that is being looked into, and you can be the judge of whether you like it or not!

It is all just for fun and curiosity for me. : )

FE Fates Localization: Character Profile Comparisons (ALL)

CharacterProfileTranslations

This is another post in my ongoing Fire Emblem Fates localization comparison posts! I discuss anything from major to minor changes here.

Today, I look at every character profile between the two versions. These profiles are specifically the ones found in the Records Hall (in MyCastle), not the ones on the map/character page  or found anywhere else.

Please note that this post is purely informative and may share some opinion, but this does not mean the change is necessarily good or bad. A change is just a change that is being looked into, and you can be the judge of whether you like it or not!

FE Fates Localization: Death Quote Comparisons [ALL] (JPN vs ENG)

FEIFWallpaper

This is another post in my ongoing Fire Emblem Fates localization comparison posts! I discuss anything from major to minor changes here as I play through the game.

Today, I compare every death quote in the game! I had been going through and comparing them one by one, but decided a macro-post would be nice to put them in one place. A reader pointed out that there is already a reddit thread that compared the fan translation to the official one, but I thought to add my own post and translation on the matter.

I include notes/commentary where appropriate, but for the most part present them side by side.

Please note that this post is purely informative and may share some opinion, but this does not mean the change is necessarily good or bad. A change is just a change that is being looked into, and you can be the judge of whether you like it or not!

FE Fates Localization: Flora Death Quote Comparison (Minor-Major)

Flora

This is another post in my ongoing Fire Emblem Fates localization comparison posts! I discuss anything from major to minor changes here as I play through the game.

Today, I look at Flora’s death quote in English and Japanese. It is a major change (to the quote itself), but a minor change (to the overall game/story). That is why it is labeled as “Minor-Major” for more clarification.

Please note that this post is purely informative and may share some opinion, but this does not mean the change is necessarily good or bad. A change is just a change that is being looked into, and you can be the judge of whether you like it or not!

Fire Emblem Fates: Soleil’s Localized Support Conversation (FULL)

Today, someone on youtube managed to get the English version of Fire Emblem Fates early and load a Japanese save file onto it in order to view Soleil’s support conversation as it was officially localized. I then transcribed the entire thing by watching the video above. Find the transcript below! I will do a detailed comparison later on, but I do leave some notes at the bottom.

As you may know, the original Japanese dialogue was controversial due to misinterpretations and a bit of a media frenzy. You can read all about that here. Her original support conversation in Japanese (translated ) can be viewed here.

As you can imagine, the process of transcribing this took some time (and passion!), so if you are feeling generous, then…Please donate! It helps fund future projects!

How does Dark Matter talk in Japanese? – Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon [JP vs ENG]

A reader named Alex was curious if I could address an issue someone had over on reddit regarding a translation/localization choice for Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon.

Warning: Plot spoilers (up until the end of the game) may follow. Please be weary.

What does Espurr really say in Chapter 6? – Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon [JP vs ENG]

PreviewshotjWhile playing through Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon, I came across a rather silly part in Chapter 6 where the psychic Pokémon Espurr uses telepathy to distract the Vice Principal Watchog to allow the player character and their friend to sneak into the classroom to avoid getting in trouble. When I read the brief scene that plays out as a result, I couldn’t help but wonder what the original Japanese may have said.

Anyway, when you read the dialogue, I am sure you will see why I (and probably some others) may have wondered just what this scene looked like in Japanese. So I went and got the Japanese text to take a closer look! Please take a look below.
