Pokémon: X/Y “Kiseki” Lyrics Comparisons (English/Japanese)

OST-002

Yesterday’s post translated the song Kiseki  from Japanese to literal English. Today I wanted to post the translated Japanese version next to the officially localized English version. This is mostly trivia for people (and myself) who were wondering what the differences are.

Enjoy!

Pokémon: X/Y “Kiseki” Lyrics Translation

OST-002

Today’s translation is Kiseki (きせき) [Miracle] the beautiful ending theme to Pokémon: X / Y. It has an official translation already (in several langauges!), but as usual I wanted to take a look at the literal translation. I hope to compare the literal to the localized version tomorrow to see the differences –if any!

The format:
Kanji
Romaji
English

Enjoy!

Update: This is an older translation that I hope to go over once again to fix some errors or awkwardness that existed back then. Please keep this in mind.

Pokemon Card: Pikachu (X/Y 42)

Today’s Pokemon is Pikachu, again! This is specifically Pikachu (X/Y  42).

Japanese Card is top/first, my edit/translation is second/bottom. Card info can be found here.

I decided to add small notes this time just for those who are curious:

ほっぺすりすり (Hoppesurisuri) means to “rub a cheek against,” and so was appropriately localized as “nuzzle.”

でんこうせっか (denkousekka) literally means “lightning speed,” and so appropriately localized as “quick attack.”

Pokemon OR/AS Certificate Translation

f413e19d

The game released in Europe today, so in celebration, here is a brief translational tidbit related to Pokemon!

You get a nice little message from the creators of Pokemon if you bring in a Pokemon all the way from Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald to Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire.

Here is the certificate in Japanese, courtesy of nintendoeverything.com

I decided to just translate it to what I assume will be the generic message:

“プレイヤー ____さま

____ との途切れることのない 友情と固く 結ばれた絆を称 ここに 証明します

ゲームフリーク
スタッフ一同”

“Player Mr/Ms ____[Trainer Name]

Here is a certificate in commemoration of your unending love and unbreakable bond with _____[Pokemon].

-Game Freak Staff””

How heartwarming!
