Valkyria Chronicles Remastered confirmed for NA/EU

I know a lot of Fire Emblem fans read this blog (and I am quite the big fan of Fire Emblem), so I wanted to make a brief post to spread awareness regarding Valkyria Chronicles Remastered. I feel like there is a crossover in the two fan bases, probably due to the SRPG nature among other things.

The game is an enhanced version of the original Valkyria Chronicles which came out in 2008 for the PS3. That’s not too long ago and it’s pretty easy to find for cheap on the PS3 even now. But considering it’s slated to be cheaper than a usual PS4 game and includes all the DLC, I highly recommend it to anyone who has not played it to try it out there. There’s even a limited edition if you pre-order. You can read more about the whole sales pitch and such on the official website.

It’s available on the PC, too, and has been since last year. It’s up for cheap on Steam, and often gets as cheap as 5 USD during sales.

It is a personal favorite of mine. See if it interests you, too! If you have any questions on the game and such, I don’t mind answering them for you. Even if I love the game a lot, I will not hesitate to present downsides to it too. It’s not my nature to sell what I like, but to try and convey things as they are (like with Fire Emblem games). : )

“Actually, I’m the Chao doctor” What? – Sonic Adventure 2 [JPN vs ENG]

When I was playing Sonic Adventure 2 again recently, something seemed really strange to me. When you visit the Chao Kindergarten in Chao World, there are several rooms you can go to, one of which is the Principal’s Office. Here, the principal offers you tips on how to raise your Chao.

But… the dialogue is just awkward. He says this in the exact order when you visit him:

Welcome to the kindergarten.
I’m the kindergarten principal.

Learn tips to raise your Chao from Professor Chao.

<Chao doctor will give you tips>

Actually, I’m the Chao doctor.
What would you like to do?

So… is he the Chao Principal, Professor, or Doctor? This is made even more awkward by the fact the Chao [medical] doctor is right next door in the infirmary. Is he saying that he is in fact, the doctor from next door here as the principal? Or that he plays both roles? Or is he a principal who happens to be a professor of all things Chao related and a doctor? Or a professor with a doctoral in Chao that happens to be the principal?

What a mess!

I looked around the net and saw nobody really thought much of it (I mean it’s all sorts of trivial), though Chao Island makes a remark on their Chao principal page:

The Chao Principal will tell you the basics about Chao and give you basic tips on how to raise them. He knows quite a lot, but will not uncover everything to know about Chao!

When you go to see him, he says “Actually, I’m the Chao doctor.”. I’m not sure why this is…

So, to answer your and my own question, Chao Island, I looked into it! I had a feeling I knew what went wrong even without looking at the original dialogue –and I was right! So take a look below to see where they went wrong:

Valkyria: Azure Revolution Famitsu Info Translations 11/18 (1)

I decided to translate information from Famitsu’s feature on the newly announced Valkyria: Azure Revolution. The game is the latest in the Valkyria series of games. There is information about a PS4 remaster of the first game (originally on PS3), as well as an interview that I hope to translate and cover later.

Due to time constraints, I did not apply them to the original scans, but I still provide the scans themselves below!

All of this is done on my free time and is rather time consuming. It is certainly a lot of work, and I am unemployed… so please consider donating if you like the work I do. Any amount (no matter how small) is much appreciated and helps me keep going on a daily basis. I hope you enjoy the end results of my work!

Sonic X – Strange Localization: 1969 Chateau Latour vs Salami

Today I look at something that always perplexed me since I watched Sonic X in Japanese so long ago, and it has to do with a localization decision by 4kids.

4kids is no stranger to silly cuts and edits to the anime they bring to the west, as you can find plenty of articles and videos about online dealing with Pokémon and One Piece.

Obviously, they change things that they deem inappropriate for their English audience which is usually younger (or deemed less mature) than their Japanese counterparts.

Sonic X is full of cuts, but this one is just the strangest to me:

Project X Zone 2: Lucina Character Profile Translation

Chrom and Lucina were announced at TGS for Project X Zone 2 earlier today, so I decided to fully translate Lucina’s profile as seen on the website.

I did a full screen shot edit this time as a handy guide around the site! I included her dialogue translation on a customized image, too. I attached her full high res official artwork, too. Lastly, the transcript can be seen below, too.

As usual, this was all done on my free time, and took awhile. It was a lot of work, but I do hope you enjoy! I am unemployed… so please consider donating if you liked the work I did. : ) It certainly helps me keep going for future projects!
