FE Fates Localization: Nyx Support Comparison (Reblog)

Nyx

This is another post in my ongoing Fire Emblem Fates localization comparison posts! I discuss anything from major to minor changes here.

Today, however, I did not do the comparison, rather, I came across an intriguing article that discusses Nyx’s supports between Japanese and English, and how it changes her portrayal. Namely, how she seems more concerned about the body she is stuck in (English) versus the guilt she feels due to the mass-murder she committed (Japanese) as a side effect of her portrayal.

I already looked at some changes with Nyx, such as her death quote. So it’s interesting seeing some more in her supports.

Please don’t use this summary for detail, as a lot of things may be taken out of context. So, instead:

Please head over to this lovely post to read about it in detail!

FE Fates Localization: Caeldori x Kiragi C Support Comparison (Strange)

FEIFWallpaper

This is another post in my ongoing Fire Emblem Fates localization comparison posts! I discuss anything from major to minor changes here. This one was requested to me by a reader on twitter!

Today, I look at Caeldori and Kiragi’s C support specifically. There was a slight (and strange) change I discovered when translating a 4koma strip that referenced the Japanese version here.

Please note that this post is purely informative and may share some opinion, but this does not mean the change is necessarily good or bad. A change is just a change that is being looked into, and you can be the judge of whether you like it or not!

It is all just for fun and curiosity for me. : )

Fire Emblem Fates: Soleil’s Localized Support Conversation (FULL)

Today, someone on youtube managed to get the English version of Fire Emblem Fates early and load a Japanese save file onto it in order to view Soleil’s support conversation as it was officially localized. I then transcribed the entire thing by watching the video above. Find the transcript below! I will do a detailed comparison later on, but I do leave some notes at the bottom.

As you may know, the original Japanese dialogue was controversial due to misinterpretations and a bit of a media frenzy. You can read all about that here. Her original support conversation in Japanese (translated ) can be viewed here.

As you can imagine, the process of transcribing this took some time (and passion!), so if you are feeling generous, then…Please donate! It helps fund future projects!

Fire Emblem Fates: Luna to Selena (Names Comparison)

Today is a very brief post on a Fire Emblem Fates localization development. The game has been sent out for review copies I assume, and many streams and the like are popping up online. According to serenesforest, Luna has been named Selena.

I talked about how Syalla had been changed to Rhajat, and Matoi to Caeldori… so now let’s take a look at this one. A lot of this post may reflect the same things from the last post, mostly for people who had not read the other post. Excuse the redundancies that may come about as a result.

Note: Spoilers for some things from the game may follow. Though, nothing about the main plot beyond very indirect references will be spoiled, but just in case, please proceed with caution. There is one paragraph I made in black text with spoiler warnings to help people avoid it at the end of the post.

Fire Emblem Fates: Matoi to Caeldori (And a few other things)

Today is a very brief post on a recent Fire Emblem Fates localization development. The game has been sent out for review copies I assume, and many streams and the like are popping up online. According to serenesforest, Matoi has been named “Caeldori.”

I talked about how Syalla had been changed to Rhajat, so now let’s take a look at this one. A lot of this post may reflect the same things from the last post, mostly for people who had not read the other post. Excuse the redundancies that may come about as a result.

Once all the names are revealed, I hope to look at some of the odder ones. (Marx to Xander…?)

Note: Spoilers for some things from the game may follow. Though, nothing about the main plot beyond one very indirect reference will be spoiled, but just in case, please proceed with caution.

Fire Emblem Fates: Syalla to Rhajat (And other localization questions)

Today is a brief post on a recent Fire Emblem Fates localization development. I already talked all about the Soleil controversy yesterday, but in a related statement, Nintendo revealed a character name, too. So today I wanted to address the character now named “Rhajat.”

In fact I hope to get to other character localization things in the future (Marx to Xander…?) but will focus on this one for now, as it brings up some questions that apply to a few other characters who we do not know the localized names of yet.

Note: Spoilers for some things from the game may follow. Though, nothing about the main plot beyond one very indirect reference will be spoiled, but just in case, please proceed with caution.

Fire Emblem Fates: Info on the Soleil Controversy

According to Nintendo World Report, Nintendo has decided to change controversial dialogue:

“In the version of the game that ships in the U.S. and Europe, there is no expression which might be considered as gay conversion or drugging that occurs between characters.” a Nintendo representative e-mailed us this morning.

You can read the rest of the summary and news on the above article. This has, of course, rekindled some talk surrounding Fire Emblem Fates’ Soleil. I have been doing translations and such for this game from pre-release all the way to post-release, so I figure I best talk about this too, mostly in an informative way.

UPDATE: The officially localized conversation can be found here.

What I want to talk about in today’s post is where exactly that all started, what was misinterpreted, etc. It’s odd how this all became an issue in the first place, but it seems it did enough for Nintendo to have to directly comment on it… and subsequently alter it to avoid any such controversy.

The post has some spoilers pertaining to her character, but will not spoil the overall game.

Dengeki Scan on Marriage in Fire Emblem Fates Translated [6/20]

I decided to translate the single page on supports and marriage just to clear up confusion as a lot of misinformation has been spreading around since it was leaked a few days ago. I did not originally plan on doing this… and I am sorry if it is considered a spoiler to some people where to confirm or deny it. I put it past the read more tag for your convenience.

It is just a single page. Head past the break.

Fire Emblem: IF Famitsu Scan Translations [ALL] [6/18/15]

FEIFLogo

I translated all of the pages of the FE Famitsu Scans for 6/18/15. I put them on the pages too for your convenience. Thanks NintendoEverything for the scans.

This was a whopping 12 page special, so it took longer than usual… and pretty much my entire day! I had a friend help me with the clean/typesetting this time to speed up the process or else would have taken even longer. Please enjoy it… she did a great job, though you may have to zoom in a little!

This was all done on my free time, and so took a while. It was certainly a lot of work, but I do hope you enjoy! I am unemployed… so please consider donating if you like the work I do. : )

FE A: Yonkoma Kings Translation (All) [COMPLETE]

yonkomakingscover

DOWNLOAD ALL IN RAR FORMAT. Password is: kantopia

The process of doing all this (scanning, editing, translating, etc) took quite a bit of time, and I am currently unemployed, so…

Please support the authors by buying a physical copy yourself! It makes for a fine addition to any Fire Emblem or manga collection, and does not cost much either!

UPDATE: [5/12/2015] It is now complete! The project started on 1/26/2015 and has finally been completed. See download link above!

ORIGINAL POST [1/26/2015]:

I recently got a copy of “Fire Emblem Awakening: Yonkoma Kings” (ファイアーエムブレム 覚醒 4コマKI)

I will be scanning, cleaning, and translating them. Each page has its own post, but this is the compilation post of my total progress thus far (and will be stickied at the top until completed).

Of course there may be some breaks to post other things, but I hope to be consistent. I will not offer the raw scans on this site, but feel free to ask for them in email if interested!
