Duke Gaddos of the Begnion Senate. He serves as Vice-Chariman among the Seven Saints of Begnion. Despite being a “saint,” he has an incredible lust for power, and is the man responsible for the domestic strife in Begnion through spearheading the campaign against the Apostle.
Lekain took advantage of the confusion surrounding the assassination of Begnion’s former apostle, Misaha, and blamed it on the Kingdom of Serenes. This chain of events led to the “Serenes Massacre.”
He was once engaged to the young lady Astrid of House Damiel. This was the latter’s primary reason for eventually casting away her heritage and fleeing Begnion entirely.
After Daein was liberated, he could no longer conceal the existence of the anti-Apostle faction for long. Adapting to the changing situation, he had Apostle Sanaki and her loyal Prime Minister Sephiran imprisoned, and seized power of Begnion for himself. At the same time, he tricked Pelleas into signing a “Blood Contract,” reducing Daein to a mere puppet state [for Begnion]. With it, Lekain was able to send Daein into hopeless battles as part of his schemes.
One can say that Lekain played a major role in all the recent conflicts –the Serenes Massacre, the Mad King’s War, Daein’s Liberation War, and the Laguz-Begnion War –in some way or another.
