FE RD: Almedha Character Profile (P. 57) Translation

This post is part of my ongoing translations of the Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn Memorial Book: Tellius Recollection (Vol 2). 

This post features Almedha, a new character to Radiant Dawn.

Mistress of Daein’s former King Ashnard. She dotes over her “son” Pelleas.
One may assume she had simply met Kurthnaga during her travels and that they are friends, but in truth she too is a child of Dheginsea –thus making her Rajaion’s younger sister, and Kurthnaga’s elder sister. For whatever reason, she became involved with Ashnard.
Almedha fled Goldoa after disagreements with her stubborn father King Dheginsea and his strict isolationist policy regarding Goldoa. She met the then-Prince Ashnard, and the two grew greatly attracted to each other. She ended up bearing his child. Ashnard sought the power of a “Black Dragon,” but seeing as Almedha had lost her power, he lost all interest in her. The child she bore was one of the “branded,” and so did not inherit the power Ashnard sought either. As a result, Almedha had become nothing more than a mere playing piece in Ashnard’s grander design. He used her to lure her older brother Rajaion to him, and proceeded to degrade him with the same drug that creates the “feral ones.”
With the mental and emotional shock of losing her own laguz powers due to her union with a beorc as well as her older brother Rajaion becoming nothing more than Ashnard’s personal mount, she descended into madness. Ashnard intended to keep her out of the public’s eyes, so she did not make an official appearance until after his death at the end of the Mad King’s War.
